• The Chairman of the Public Transport Authority meets with the business sector on Wednesday at Asharqia Chamber

    On Wednesday, 31 October 2018, Asharqia Chamber will host the Chairman of Public Transport Authority, Dr. Rumih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, to meet with entrepreneurs and interested individuals in the public transport sector in the Eastern Province, at 10:00 am at the headquarter of the Chamber.

     

    The chairman of Asharqia Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad al-Ammar al-Khalidi, said that the meeting aims to review the most important issues and challenges facing the private sector in public transport activities, and enrich the dialogue on the sector in general and its future mechanisms, especially in light of the recent issuance by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, of a royal order to organize special logistics areas integrated into the airports', which will result in the opening of many specific investment areas to the business sector in this regard.

     

    Al-Khalidi considered the meeting as an opportunity to realize the great developments witnessed by the public transport sector in the Kingdom. The Public Transport Authority provides a list of services to the carriers of the sector and the regulatory and legislative procedures that promote business partnership in public transport activities.

     

    For his part, a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Logistics Committee in Asharqia Chamber, Bandar bin Rafi al-Jabri, said on the importance of the meeting as it comes at a time when the public transport sector is a state of regulatory and legislative movement, in a serious attempt to reformulate it in line with the future benefits, which target the vision of 2030,

    He pointed out that the public transport sector represents an integrated tool that links all other development sectors and plays a positive role in the national economy for providing it with insurance and facilitating the movement of passengers and goods, and plays a leading role in pushing the economy movement and providing service to the productive and service sectors of all kinds, in addition to the investment opportunities that are available to the private sector, as well as creating jobs for the national labor forces.​

    In a workshop organized by the Chamber's Logistics Committee recently, the Public Transport Authority reviewed the mechanism for implementing the new regulations that would be regulating the movement of goods, freight brokers and car rentals on land roads.​
